What's the difference between Khalas and Fard?

Khalas is our gateway date: soft, buttery, with a caramel finish that makes sense the moment you taste it.

Fard is the connoisseur's date: darker, denser, more complex, and the one our regulars reach for once they've built a taste for it.

Where do these dates come from? Every date is grown in Al Dakhliya region in Oman — the same soil ANAT's founder grew up farming. We're not importing a commodity; we're bringing over what a family farm already does at the highest level.

Are these the same as the dates I've had before? certainly not. Most dates sold in the US are Medjool, bred for size and shelf appeal. Khalas and Fard are different varieties entirely, prized in Oman for flavor and texture rather than for looking massive. 

What's in the ingredients list? Dates. That's it. No added sugar, no preservatives, no oil coating, no pesticides. 

Do you offer pitted dates? Not yet — our first releases are whole, pit-in dates, which preserve texture and freshness best. Pitted and stuffed varieties are on our roadmap; join our list to hear when they launch.

Shipping

Where do you ship? Currently only the United States. 

How fast will my order arrive? Orders ship within 1-2 business days and typically arrive within 4–8 business days, depending on your location

Do you offer free shipping? yes, on our 6 pack options 

How should I store my dates once they arrive? Room temperature in a sealed container for up to a few weeks, or refrigerated for extended freshness. Dates naturally keep well thanks to their sugar content — no rush to finish the bag.

Orders, Returns & Guarantee

What if I'm not happy with my order? We stand behind every bag. If there's a quality issue — anything short of what you expected — send us a photo within 14 days and we'll review your concerns and issue a refund if suitable. If it's simply a matter of preference (say, Fard wasn't your style), we'll offer store credit so you can try Khalas.

How do I start a return? Email us at contact@shopanat.com with your order number and a photo of the product. We'll take it from there — no forms, no runaround.

Can I change or cancel my order after placing it? Reach out to contact@shopanat.com as soon as possible. Because we fulfill quickly, we can accommodate changes if you catch us before the order ships.

Are your dates organic / certified? Our farm follows traditional low-intervention growing practices; formal certification is on our roadmap. See our tests that show these dates are as organic as it gets

Is ANAT a big company? No — we're a small, founder-led brand. ANAT was built by two people.

Why is ANAT priced higher than dates I can find at the grocery store? Grocery store dates are typically Medjool, bred for size and mass-market shelf life. Khalas and Fard are grown for flavor, harvested and packed in far smaller batches, and represent varieties most of the US market has never had access to.
